LEADFX, through its majority owned subsidiary Chief Consolidated Mining Company owns or has a legal interest in approximately 14,112 acres of land in the East Tintic Mining District in Utah, USA. The Utah properties include patented and unpatented mining claims that are prospective for base and precious metal deposits (lead, silver, zinc, copper and gold) and industrial minerals (namely, silica, limestone, clays, calcium carbonate and iron ore). Our near-term commercial focus in Utah is to develop the at-surface industrial minerals potential whilst undertaking studies to upgrade and potentially reactivate lead-zinc-silver mining at the Burgin mine.
The East Tintic Mining District historically produced over one million tons of lead metal from numerous underground mines. The last mine of significance was the Burgin mine which was operated by Kennecott until 1978.
